Smallest car/van to take 8'x4' sheets?

As the title, really. What would be the smallest van/estate that would take half a dozen standard 8x4 sheets of 'wood stuff' - preferably laid flat.

Would be looking at old (i.e. cheap!) options....

Renault trafic/ Vauxhall vivaro LWB or Mercedes VITO LWB both do it. Vito is a bit smaller.

Short wheel base vivaro/ford custom is fine. Any more than that and the curved bulk head pushes the sheets further towards the doors

Anything with a roof rack would do for 8x4

Very few estate cars have enough space for 8x4 sheets. You would need a larger sized MPV, like a long wheelbase Chrysler Voyager or Kia Sedona, if it has to be a bangernomics vehicle and you want to close the tailgate.

If you're looking for a cheap solution, roof bars or a trailer.

I had a 2014 Galaxy. No way you'd get an 8x4 sheet in the back, as there's not enough width between the rear suspension housings. Length would be a problem too, unless the front seats are all the way forwards. I could only just fit an 8' fence post in, diagonally. An 8' length of 15" contiboard had to be rested on the reclined front passenger seat with the headrest removed.

Yeah, my old 306 used to be an inch short of 4ft and I have before now got a bulkhead for a narrowboat in to it in only a few parts.

However modern cars are getting worse and worse for this as the smaller you make the rear hatch the lighter it can be and the better it does in a crash and that's what most people rate it for.

The guy i bought my fireplace off had a Volvo 940 and the space inside blows you mind compared to newer stuff.

My parents had an 806, huge space, not 8 ft long but would take 8x4 sheets with ease on the diagonal with tail open. Weak clutch but otherwise a trooper.
