I am looking for recommendations for a weekend car that will be used for special occasions, long distance driving to and from holidays destinations and the odd trip locally. I am looking for something that gives a sense of occasion, I love fast petrol cars so let me know your recommendations! Only needs a minimum of 2 seats however will need some space for luggage, at the moment I am thinking 911 however am fully open to recommendations!

Lexus LC500 if you can up your budget slightly.

Or 911 as you've said.

Get a proper model of 911 and it will blow everything else away. Audis, Aston etc are nothing compared to the Porsche if you value the driving experience over everything else.

Youve already mentioned a serious contender. It does what you’re asking for and with aplomb, and if you like them what else is there to decide smile . Get a 991 model 911 for your budget. Prob around the 2012 mark.

An Evora is probably worth a drive if you want something a bit more handling biased than the 911. I think you'd get a 400 in budget. There's a good reason the 911 sells so well though, it really does nothing badly.

To me the 911 isn't a GT car it's a sports car that is able to do long runs if you want a sports car I'd be looking at an Evora:

Thanks for all of the recommendations, I think it is purely a case of going to a garage that has several of these in stock and driving them!

I couldn't disagree more. Modern 911s lack any driver involvement at all (GT3s etc would be the exception).

Wow, fully autonomous level 5 911s, they kept that quiet.
