Hi all.

Sold my megane 265 today because quite frankly I didn’t like it and it was costing a fair amount to run it. Freed up a bit of cash to pay off a few things so I have about 8-9k to buy something new. I work from home but have occasional long trips (375 mile round trips) with work, but they will pay me 45p a mile for those. I could make a fair wedge with that as they would like me to be out and about a bit more than I have been. Otherwise my mileage is around the city and short local trips, and the odd 600 mike round trip for a long weekend to the family.

After an auto due to city and motorway mileage. Got to get a bike either in or on it, and a wakeboard in it. Would like it to look fairly sharp, and be reasonable to run. 50+ mpg motorway 30 ish town would be ideal. Current considerations that cover pretty much all spectrums:

120d coupe M Sport
Scirocco 2.0 tsi (know nothing about these, any good?)
Volvo v50 d4

Inspire me.

A6 would make a better cruiser and you would get more for your money. Although I would be looking at a Jaguar XF.

Do you really need a diesel? I understand that there is the odd 600 mile trip, but how many miles do you do pa?

I'd be looking at a Lexus if you need a petrol option, either the IS250, GS300 or GS450h.
