Hello All

I have owned a 1997 Mitsubishi Shogun SWB - 3.0 V6 GLS for 10 years. It has covered 98k miles. I will be taking soon for a restoration including full chassis repair and dip.

I am toying with the idea of fitting a high power LS1 5.7 lump with carburettors. I know the engine and mounts will be around Can anyone advise me on the following:

  • Who in the UK can do this engine fit and custom make the exhaust?
  • If I want around 500bhp & 450 ft torque, what other components must I change?
Thanks
Ian

Also, if you want that power then it will need to be supercharged

Craig at Dynotorque has probably done more LS conversions than anyone in the UK...

However, fitting the engine will be easy, mating it it to the 4wd box might be a bit more difficult given it is not a common application.

If there's room, possibly using a full engine/box ( auto ) from a US vehicle that already runs 4wd with transfer box out back would be the easiest option.

Trying to keep it manual might be more difficult.

As for 500hp....a lot depends if you're insistent on an old LS1, or using one of the more modern and probably more readily available LS2, 3 etc.

Heads, cam, exhaust and proper tuning should see an easy 500 though.

Are the transmission and suspension good for that much torque?
