I have an e90 m3 which was a bmw auc. When the warranty was due to elapse I took out the warranty and have maintained that for 2 years now. The car is now 7 years old. Is the general consensus that this is worth having and bmw will honour it properly should you require it? I also presume it would make a future sale of the car much easier? I know if I was buying I’d be looking for a warranty to be in place so that I could keep it going.
Thanks

Having the warranty would help hugely come resale. That would be a strong selling point for me.

They are usually really good for honouring claims. Can't say I've heard anything bad.

It’s a no brainer. I’ve run various 3 series diesels for 400k miles (and a Friday afternoon M3 CSL for 30k miles) and I’ve never had a warranty claim refused.
A full BMW service history makes the warranty as good as watertight.

A good few years ago now I had an official UK supplied E30 M3 Sport Evolution that had an engine replacement under the extended warranty by BMW when the car was iirc 12 years old but had only covered 72,000 miles. The car had a full BMW service history as well. The comment above suggesting the extended warranty is as good as watertight is absolutely correct and well worth the money.

An old colleague of mine bought an E30 M3 sport evolution circa 2002 which if memory serves me right had it's engine rebuilt by BMW prior to him buying it. He still has the car to this day.

Wonder if it's the same car as yours.

I extended for 5 years on a V8 M3.....

In year one it saved me £200
In year two it saved me £0
In year three it saved me £3000 (gearbox!)
In year four it saved me £5000 (engine!!)

I’ve just extended on our 3 year old X4. £400 for the year. That in my eyes is cheap for a full warranty with £100 excess

I also had an E60 M5 which I kept the mondial warranty running on from a previous owner. It saved me so much money over the few years I can’t really work it out. That had a clutch as well despite previous owners launch controls being recorded and being high according to dealer. BMW were excellent about it. Instead of upgrading cars every year I found being happy with whatever i owned and knew all the gremlins of and indeed what had and hadn’t been sorted by me gave me peace of mind and was cheaper than upgrading to the next model.

For example I broke two F10 M5s in warranty. And I’d never own one of those without the extended warranty!

Having also used the breakdown abroad and repatriation service BMW give you I can tell you it’s second to none. Flights. Hotels. Car hire. Faultless
