Birds or Motech??
Discussion
What do you want to achieve with modifications? That would be the starting point. From an observation perspective, birds seem to focus more on the drive, and motech on the looks and noise. The phase 'motech stance' makes me cringe, but they are very popular and seem to know what they are doing. I'm always a bit sceptical about lowing a car and slapping on spacers, but maybe it does improve the drive, if not the ride and dampers. Although I think they are offering dampers now. I've had a ride in the birds demo and it does seem very good, but they won't let you drive it.

For me even just changing the springs to Eibachs transformed the questionable handling - and that’s a low cost entry point vs the above.

Has anyone tried the Birds Springs kit you can buy on it's own to pair with M-sport Dampers?
My 1 Series is due a suspension refresh, so was thinking new M-Sport Dampers and this Springs only kit would be a cheaper way to improve things than buying the full kit.
Also what's the recommendation on Bump Stops? I assume these will need replaced - OEM or aftermarket?

I've been looking recently at the B3 suspension for my E92 335i.
Does anyone know if they are direct replacement, or if they need fettling and adjusting with after installation?
I would like to give it a go fitting myself, I've done the rear shocks before and found it easy enough, however if I had to set ride heights, damping rates etc. then I'd want it professionally done.

Birds suspension stuff is direct replacement, although the Quaife diff needs workshop machine work if you are going for the full package, but I believe Birds will send a complete pumpkin unit on an exchange basis for you to return yours once removed?Does anyone know if they are direct replacement, or if they need fettling and adjusting with after installation?

Good to know, looks like I could tackle the suspension myself then. Anyone know of a decent Scottish based workshop that has experience of fitting Quaife diffs?
It's not Quaife diffs in general, its fitting into the specific BMW diff units that have the welded CWP, as in the 135i and 335i etc.Better to get one done by Birds and sent up and then its just a 'pumpkin' swap and then send your pumpkin back to Birds.
