WLTP - Anyone else having issues getting new cars?
Discussion
Hi,
we are trying to buy a petrol Kodiaq 4x4 and are being given the run around. Having looked on FB it seems VAG are way behind with their testing of most models from the sounds of it.
Are there any other manufacturers is the same boat? We are now looking for alternatives, but obviously don't want to get into the same issues with a different dealer.
we are now looking at Honda (CRV) and Subaru (XV & Forester).
cheers
Rich

VWs and other brands are having horrible lead times, been told for Jan for delivery for various cars - hard to make a decisionwe are trying to buy a petrol Kodiaq 4x4 and are being given the run around. Back in April I was given a 28 week lead time for a petrol Karoq, it sounds like things have got worse.
6 months plus and you have to wonder what is even the point of opening the showroom in the morning, although I suppose some people must be prepared to wait that long, even considering it's an estimate and will likely be pushed out.

it obvious to see why they start to cut [legal] corners in situations like this eg the diesel scandal and testing when sales are being lost and leads times are ridiculous! Its laughable to think people will wait about the months that might be needed for standard cars!

we were after a 2.0 tsi dsg edition with a couple of extras...GreatGranny said:
We considered buying a pre-registered car, but the monthly payments are much higher than buying a new car, as you lose out on the "deposit contribution" and the APR is usually higher. In your link, setting a £4k deposit gives a £400 monthly on a PCP, but on a new car, the same deposit would give monthlies closer to £300.

there weren't anby when I looked. They have been going through the process of changing from 1.4 to 1.5 and redoing the 2.0 engines.
It is a bit tricky finding a petrol auto suv , any more suggestions?
We looked at Discovery Sport, Peugeot 5008, Tiguan Allspace. All available with petrol auto.It is a bit tricky finding a petrol auto suv , any more suggestions?
Ironically, the Sorento we ended up with is still diesel only (in the UK).

Is it only the German manufactures that are struggling with this?
Kinda shows how well their old engines were circumventing the rules when they're all struggling to meet a more thorough test.
Or maybe it indicates that it is harder to test a ludicrous number of variants (don’t they have to do it separately for different optional extras too?) - Kia and Subaru etc have much simpler model variants with few extras possible, but vw and co have a spectacular range of different engine and gearbox optionsKinda shows how well their old engines were circumventing the rules when they're all struggling to meet a more thorough test.
