Best small car for wife

I am planning to buy a car for my wife with in £2000, Automatic. Please suggest which one is good in below link or suggest which one you know in that budget. thanks in advance.

At £2k I would look for private. Find a Honda Jazz where some old biddy had it serviced at main dealer each year, but now has popped her clogs and her kids are selling it.

Take tissues incase of any tears

How about contributing to the general vibe of the place rather than popping up every so often to bluntly demand advice on a car-selection problem without so much as a 'who's you do'?

I am bit worried about the private sales, coz am not that good at checking the car performance. So relying on Dealers.
So Honda Jazz is better car than Benz A150 ?

The Mrs has a Jazz, I expected to hate it. I don't.

The Jazz is a bloody good car, but you'll still have to look at that one carefully, it's 12 years old after all. Not sure which transmission it has, but the iShift wasn't popular. They do tend to get looked after but aren't impervious to wear and ageing. Mine is a 2011, it doesn't do many miles, but I've had it for over 4 years, done an 1100 mile trip to Germany in it and the repairs since I've had it and quite possibly since new amount to 1 lightbulb.

A Yaris would be worth a look and there must be umpteen Fiestas, but an auto will cut down the number of cars available to you.

I would find it hard to look past a small Suzuki for this job. We have an automatic Swift and my mother in law has a Splash. Both are excellent cars and have been bulletproof. Failing that my nan has had an automatic Micra for 12 years and that has been faultless also, so look at those as well as the bigger Note .

My Mrs has a 2003 Yaris 1.3 Auto
Cracking Car. Quite nippy with the 1.3 Engine. And the Yaris has a reputation for reliability.

You would need to go 2005 or older to get the conventional Auto Gearbox.
The Multi-Mode Gearbox from 2005 on can have problems.

I’m looking for a similar type of car for about the same money to replace my wife’s aged and broken Polo. I was thinking along the lines or a Jazz, Yaris, or perhaps a Fiesta.

I then made the mistake of looking at Honest John’s second hand reviews – in the ‘good and bad’ section, despite the Yaris and Jazz scoring 4/5, he lists a huge long list of potential faults – ranging from catastrophic engine failures, premature transmission wear, ECUs failing, you name it.

It’s put me off a bit, and made me think I might be better off fixing up the old Polo (needs a gearbox).

I’m not clear though if these issues Honest John lists are just couple of people contacting him with problems, or a wider problem. I’m hoping the former.

Honest John really doesn't like any auto that's not a traditional torque converter type.
CVTs and similar he says are dead unreliable.

I’d agree, Jazz, swift, micra. Basically small and jap, Please don’t get the merc I really do think it will cause you issues.
