Approved used car with 2500 more miles than advertised??
Discussion
Just purchased a 63 plate Hyundai i30 for a little over £6k from an approved used franchise dealer. The car drove great on the test drive, looked good on the surface and came with a 12 month warranty. The car was, however, advertised at 54,993 miles but when I checked the MOT report from today it was recorded at 57,498. I stupidly didn't check the mileage when test driving but can't imagine they've covered 2500 miles in 3 days. Is there any reason they may have advertised the car at less than it was on? perhaps using the mileage recorded at last service or something? I am due to pick the car up tomorrow but having had such trouble recently with cars am just wondering if this is something to be concerned about?
TIA

If the car was taken as a PX originally, the lower mileage may have been the mileage on the car when it was first appraised.
What can happen is when the Sales Manager finds out the handover is about to take place, he scribbles a retail price on the appraisal, chucks it at the guy who does the internet and asks him to load it up. Often nobody thinks to check the actual mileage on the car.

The sales exec told me that the previous owner part exchanged for a brand new Tucson so I suppose it would make sense that they took it in for an appraisal and then had to keep the car for a couple more months whilst they waited for the new car to arrive?? I will ask tomorrow to put my mind at ease.
