Cold feet and wet

I've just become the proud new owner of a 99 speed six. I thought the carpets had just been over shampoo'd but ive had it a couple of days now and the water is only subsiding very slowly.

Has any one else heard of the foot wells leaking in these. if you have how did you plug it up. Apart from wearing wellingtons

Yep....had this problem. It can be caused by leaking door seals or where some components are mounted to the top of the footwell and require re-sealing.

The door seals are more expensive to repair as they are a real pain to fit. New seals often require either door or window adjustment (because the new door rubbers are slightly thicker than the old ones) so best done by a dealer.

The second is cheaper to fix, but because you cannot get to the tops of the footwells without taking the engine covers off, again this is best done by a dealer.

I also noticed this just after the purchase of my 2001 4.5 and made the vendor fix the problem. If you purchased the car from a dealer rather than privately make it their problem.

Dealers are required to give 3 month warranty on all car sales.

Make sure you get all the water out as it can affect the trim long term.

Much appreciated. Are they all such a mare to start on a cold morning, or is it just me. If i let the revs drop it stops, once she's warm she's sound it's just that first couple of minutes while warming up that theres a bit of sputtering sound familiar?

erm, mines not. sorry, thats not very helpful is it. bet yours is cleaner than mine though
