Open to suggestions for some new boots. My Sidi Vertigo have been superb. They are 10 years old, and are just about knackered and wearing through where the toe leather meets the sole.
My eye has been caught by RST's tracktec Evo's which are roughly half the price and seem very well reviewed, although I can't get away from the Vertigo' which have been brill and I can still get hold of.
Any others I should be looking at? and any opinions on the RST's would be great.
Budget is up to £300, but I'd prefer £200 and under.
Thanks :-)

My sidi vertigos fell apart a few weeks ago, zip finally gave way. It happened shortly before the soles wore through though so can't complain. Loved them, value for money was amazing.
I bought some RST tractech evo 3 waterproof boots to replace them. They're not as good but they're good. However, I've only been wearing them a couple of weeks. They're warmer and waterproof so far. The fit around the calf is a lot tighter and I've gone from a 43 to a 44 to compensate and there's more room for decent socks for when it gets cold.
In the summer I'll buy some more vertigos and keep the RST for day to day stuff and for when it rains.
The RST are very good for half the price but they're not as good as the vertigos unless you want waterproof and then they're obviously miles ahead.

Recently (2 weeks ago) bought a pair of TCX SP Master's. Good fit for me and comfy, sometimes forget I'm still wearing them at work.
In the downpour last week we had they faired very well with dry feet, but I'd expect that from new gortex boots... time will tell throughout the winter but no complaints so far.

I’ve got TCX RT Races, they are a very good boot, feel very safe and feel well made. They are a blatant rip off of Alpinestars Supertech R’s in the looks department though.
The only problem with mine is that my heel guards have worn through the suede on the sides and now the plastic ankle protection can be seen.

I got the Sidi Roaars, they lasted 3 weeks before the wore very oddly at the heel and there was a hole in both boots. Replaced under warranty (plus some cash) for the ST's. 3 months in the velcro came away (back to Sidi for 6 weeks to be fixed), then more stitching fell away, replaced with the Mag 1's (plus cash, can you see a pattern?). These are currently doing ok, although the velcro is going a bit funny and the sole isn't faring well.
My Aplinestars SMS-Plus 2011 are still going strong, comfortable and fairng well, just for some reason my feet seem to have grown
My last pair of SMX-5's lasted years and many thousands of miles. I should have bought A* again.
That said the dealer I spoke to said kit quality has taken a dive in the last 10 years. How true that is I don't know.

The heel looks very thin at the sole. Are the soles replaceable do you think? The only problem with mine is that my heel guards have worn through the suede on the sides and now the plastic ankle protection can be seen.
Had my old SIDI's for years... decided to buy TCX RT Race ... they made my feet numb in the correct size, went up one size and they were too big ... the sizing and fitment are weird. Sold them and bought Alpinestar Supertech R's ... no breaking in, perfect fit and seriously comfortable and very protective.
I appreciate that what I am going to suggest is not within budget as a new boot, but used, they should be at £300. I tried all sorts and had several sets of Alpinestars Supertech Rs for racing in. A few crashes saw one pair just give up the ghost completely, so I invested in some Daytona Security EVO GP boots. They are simply like nothing else on the market. They don't look as fashionable as Sidi/Dainese/A'Stars etc., but when they are on there is nothing that will touch them. I have crashed at Oliver's Mount in them, with the bike landing on my left ankle and sliding for about 30 feet, with no damage to myself at all, not even a bruised ankle bone. Have a look on ebay or motorforum for a used pair, you won't regret it.
I'm guessing you want more of a 'race' than a 'touring' boot. looking at those Sidis?
I had Sidis for many years but got fed up of the squeaking when I walk the length of my massive, quiet open plan office, everyone gawps at me!
I replaced them with some Daytona Strive GTXs following a recommendation on here, have worn them nearly every day for 3 years and they are awesome. Really comfortable, warm, bone dry in all weathers, very durable. When they eventually wear out I'll be replacing with same.
They might be a bit 'sports tourer' for you but I see that Daytona do a more sporty Evo boot which could suit? They are exceptionally well made.

Yeah, Daytonas would be my perfect boot....but the budget wouldn't stretch new. I may have a look secondhand as you suggest. I've handled a pair and their quality is second to none.
