Well, as a 911 fanboy I suppose it had to happen eventually
Not the GT3 I'd really like (maybe one day...) but perhaps the best non GT/Turbo 996 - a C4S - now sitting proudly outside my flat. 107k miles, just had RMS, aircon rads and a few sundry bits done along with service, so should be good for a few miles of trouble free motoring. Only issue is a couple of parking dents (dentless repair jobs hopefully) and a broken front splitter. Drives well, although I'll report more once I've had a chance to exercise it properly on Sunday
I understand the best solution for the splitter is to replace with a polyurethane job, similar to that on 997/GT3 as they are cheap enough to be disposable, easy to fit, don't show scrapes whilst being more resilient and they look pretty good. Thoughts on this appreciated.
Will be posting pics up in due course (planning to head out for some tonight)!

Few on here would argue with that LOL check out the "Whats an early 3.4 996" Thread for some interesting reading.

Good job I wrote 'perhaps'.... Post some pictures and enjoy the 996 experience, they are all great cars, I'm an early C2 fan as once modded this is nearest to the GT3 experience I too would really love to own.

C2 is probably more 'me' but this was the right car at the right time & price so I figured 'why not'!? I can always move onto a C2, or maybe a 997C2S next year. Really enjoying it in the few miles I've done so far, engine is stronger in the mid range than I imagined, very different to my M3; they're probably as quick as each other, the 911 a bit more mid range though. Just need to get that splitter sorted!
This looks like a good shout, black & flexible like the 997 item, and looks just fine. Probably home fit and not expensive:

Hi Steve,
Have you sold the NSX finally?
I also have a 996..a turbo so understand your need to scratch this itch..also a daily runner..
It's fast but but drives nowhere near as reassuring as the NSX.

I did indeed; sold to a mate.... who I then bought the 996 from a few months later. He then sold his Porsche and the NSX to get a 550, but I did get one more drive in the NSX when we did a photoshoot with it a couple of weeks ago. Running this and E46 M3, not sure which I prefer yet.... off for a drive Sunday on the usual old route if you fancy tagging along?Have you sold the NSX finally?

Congratulations, that looks very nice indeed and I'm sure that you will enjoy it more and more as you get to know the car better. It looks to have ceramic brakes on it too if I'm not mistaken, so is likely to be a very well specified car.
All the best,
Danny.
Had a good play this weekend with some friends in tow. Interesting dynamics, as expected. Really fun, still in the bonding phase... I have the original order sheet and it's had a fair few boxes ticked (no ceramics though). All the best,
Danny.

Great pics and nice C4S, but you can’t tease us with the mention of NSX and not show us a picture or two!

Aha fair enough; here's one from my insta:

Congrats on the C4S.
On the front splitter looks like you currently have a 996 turbo splitter.
I have a 996 turbo which can with a C4S splitter.

The C4S splitter looks good IMO (although I will change for a turbo splitter) and wears very well.
Worth getting one if you have a C4S.
Yep mine is broken, so intend to get one of those polyurethane jobs, as they look good and are a lot more resilientOn the front splitter looks like you currently have a 996 turbo splitter.

Great photo's of a great car, just bought my first 911 C4S in Silver, great car and plenty quick enough to enjoy or sit in traffic.
Regards to the IMS replacement do you know if it has had A porsche upgrade bearing or the aftermarket roller bearing? just interested as most 996's need or will require this replaced?
Enjoy your car
