What Brake Pads for Chimaera?

Hi guys & girls,
Just about to do a small brake up grade, I have new drilled & grooved disc's for the Chimaera, and have a set of Red Dot rear pads, but will be running Mintex 1144's on the front.

Here's the question, has anyone any experience of the Red Dot pads? Are they any good ? Can I mix them OK with the Mintex on the front.

Ah well as I am asking, I will be changing my springs in the next month as well. I have new set of AVO's ready for the car, but wondering about what springs to use.

I know that some of you do not rate AVO's, but I am very happy with the old set which I have on the car already for the past 4 years with no problems on track or road. I have them set firm all the time.

So can you help me out,

I've got some ECBs hard on the discs but not too much dust and minimal fade

Most people with experience of brakes on the Chimaera rate the Mintex pad far above EBC so I would match these.

As for AVO, I had AVOs with factory springs on my last Chimaera and have just bought some more for the new Chimaera, work well.

You've got them now, but for next time I'd advise grooved but not drilled discs.

Thanks for the info, i got a really good deal on the disc's all 4 & delivery at under £150, from ebay.

Corin, its good to know some else has the Chimaera set up in the same way. I really enjoy the AVO set up, last Monday had to come out of the chicane at Kirkistown side ways, as the Cerbie in front took it to slow and I was been caught by another Cerbie so he and I exit the chicane side ways, almost side by side with the lead Cerbie driver eyes out on stalks in panic, three abreast on exit to the back straight. Controlled fun at its best

Still no one with Red Dot experince out there??

Hi Colin, that's a great looking car, especially seeing as it's driven half way to the sun and back! 110000 miles is a pretty good testament to a nice motor that's clearly been looked after.
Just out of interest what are the brake discs you've put on the car? I need some new pads and discs all round and would be interested in giving the grooved and drilled route a go.
