As our business is growing, I seem to be spending more time working 'in the business than on the business' and could do with freeing up some of mine and another particular colleague for other projects.

Has anyone used people like these guys https://www.slmarketing.co.uk/b2b-telemarketing/ and similar with decent results?

Any other advice appreciated. Ideally we want to qualify any leads before someone internally gives them a call so there's not so much wasted time.

Yes - have used several over the years with mixed results.

I'd say that your intended approach is the right one; qualifying leads rather than getting meetings. Businesses differ but generally, I don't think direct sales is something that you can effectively outsource.

Who ever you use, they need a really good brief and a really good database too.

And in my experience, you get what you pay for.

Hi AB, my business, Shortlist Marketing, provides B2B telemarketing and lead generation services.

As with all marketing the key is in understanding your target market. The more you know about it the more you can define it, the more you can define it the easier to target it.

This isn't just about having a great database but understanding who your perfect customer is
Who the decision makers and influences are
Which industries are best to target
How & when they buy
What contracts they have
Competitors
Are there any compelling events that make them buy
What their drivers for change are

Once you understand your target market you can then look at is telemarketing the right approach and at what stage of the buying cycle do you call them.

To do it well telemarketing is a long term strategy that delivers best when it is part of an integrated service. You are trying to build a relationship with your prospects not just sell to them. How you treat them as a prospect is how they believe you will treat them as a customer.

There are loads of people who will tell you that telemarketing doesn't work, however if you take your time with an agency, train them well, have very transparent goals, deliverables and reporting; the telephone is still one of the best ways of generating qualified sales opportunities.

Audicab, you're not a million miles away, send me over a PM and let's see if we can come up with a plan?

Would rather work with a PHer if we both think it'll work. I've spoken to a couple of agencies today and would be interested to hear your thoughts.

100% agree with this. When this doesn't work there's almost always something wrong with the process.
