Hi,

EDIT: IT'S A 2010 REG

Just purchased one. When exceeding 50mph there is a high pitched wind noise coming from the door mirror it seems.

Tried turning the radio up but it can still be audible. Anyone who maybe owned on of these or the 1series of this year be able to advise?

Thanks

I'm assuming you mean a 2008 125i Coupé wink But I have one the same year, haven't had any major issues with the windows sealing, but they aren't uncommon.

First place to start is usually to "reset" the electric windows so they know exactly where "up" and "down" are, good explanation below:

If that doesn't work get it remapped. Won't fix the window problem but you'll be too busy grinning to care smile

^This.

Noise not being caused by the door mirrors.

May be the door or the window need adjustment for improved air seal.

Remap of a 125i should get it to almost 130i levels, as the 125i is almost in effect a detuned 130i coupe.

I haven't had mine on a rolling road, but the claim is 218bhp -> 280 bhp, and my arse dyno, plus a couple of runs with allegedly much faster cars, makes me think it isn't too far off at all. It also completely transforms the car, much smoother at low revs, more throaty and now picks up in any gear, as long as you have 2000 rpm on the clock. Then past 4000 rpm it just goes.

If you haven't had it done, I'd strongly suggest it.

Given the 130i was 258hp, I think 280 is somewhat optomistic eek

The dyno figures I've seen (on reputable RR's) have been around the 250hp mark.

Typically now you get the gains from 125i -> 130i, but also any gains from remapping a 130i (10-15 bhp or so). BMW got 272 out of the N52 in the Z4 3.0Si, so 280bhp isn't outside the realms of possibility. I've seen P-Torque guarantee 270, and the chap below on babybmw has a confirmed 282bhp.

Either way, it's a seriously rapid car now, with performance nudging that of the 135i / M235i. This may have been tasted... smile

Wow, reading this makes me want to get mine done. Its rapid already (although I've had low torque Japanese screamers till now), and the extra omph sounds very tempting.

Worth checking that the mirror is fully pushed forward (as in not folded inwards at all). I had a car that developed a wing mirror whistle and it turned out to be slightly folded in.
Also worth driving with it folded in or window down to see that it really is the mirror and not a window seal.

I'm another with the P-torque re-map, can't recommend it enough. I combined getting the work done with a weekend in North Wales trying out some fantastic roads and scenery.

If you believe the rolling road print out it's went from 215 to 271 BHP, but even if that's a little optimistic it certainly feels like the car has gained a lot of power and has a sharper throttle response. It's mostly gained at the top end as well so revving it out to the red line is extremely rewarding.

I can't help with the wind noise, only to say I haven't noticed any on mine.

Other people are suggesting they can get even more:

These guys did mine, haven't had it on a rolling road but all they claim appears to be there.

Re N52B30 power figures - just a slight pedantic note: it was 265bhp in Z4, 272bhp was in X3/X5.
