Hi. I just replaced the metal window channel which operates the glass. Is there a easy way of reassembly? Spent a few hours trying various ways, motor in the bottom of the door and motor out and dropping the whole lot into the door. Just don't seem to be able to keep the rollars in the window channel and the guide in the door channel and aline the motor securing bolts. Is there a knack? Have considered taking the channel off the window, reassembling the door lifting mechanism, then dropping the glass into the channel and securing with glue. Any pointers would be appreciated, J C.

I believe the latter is correct although mine had a rubber gasket...I guess you may be able to silicone it in...Hopefully someone else can confirm as I didnt do this myself...mainly cos I would of broken the glass...Oh hang on it got broken anyway...laugh

I fitted a new channel to my 350i a few years ago. I did eventually manage to get it all back into the door and working but really needed four skinny hands, rather than two large ones. I did remove a fair amount of skin off my knuckles. In hindsight bonding the glass into the new channel with the mechanical bits in place may well have been considerably easier.

Thanks Mark/Keith. A plan I agree. Fit the lifting mechanism and bond the glass direct into the channel. At present the channel is fitted to the glass with a rubber seal which was a sod to slide on. I would think the weight of the glass and mastic would secure the channel to the glass. Thanks J C.

I used silicone as I did not like the thought of hitting the glass in the channel

Thanks Collin, my plan I think after this afternoon's trials. Yes the glass is a tight fit in the channel with the rubber seal but difficult, and a good chance of breaking the glass when trying to fit. I should think a bed of sealant should secure the glass? J C.

I did mine about 12 months ago and no problem. To expensive and hard to get hold of to bang it in
