I have just heard that there was a fatal accident in Portsmouth on Thursday. Does anyone know anything more about this? I only found out because my mum was caught up in the resulting jam.

Link from local rag

I ask because there is a speed camera (Truvelo) located there, a fact conveniently not reported in that news article (I know this because I'm a local).

Nah, it was a few hundered yards after the speed camera, and North of Tangier Road, maybe 100-200 yards before Burfields Road heading North. I arrived at the scene just as BiB closed the Eastern Road and sent everyone down Burfields. Looked like a big fire.

iirc that camera has road markings both before and after it, just right to upset a motorbike...

Maybe someone should point that out to the paper?

Another Pompey peer Thanks for the extra detail.

Wasn't that stretch of DC reduced to 30 very recently?

A vehicle fire is is always bad news. Condolences to anyone touched by this.

I'm somewhat illegal to drive at the moment, so forgive any bad English

There was an accident in Blackpool yesterday on a 30 limit dual carriageway. In this case there were no deaths thankfully, but as above this was 100yds after/before 2 cameras (1 on each lane opposite each other). The main accident happened on the lane just after a camera. One car appears to have had a bump with a big truck and crossed onto the other carriageway hitting another car.

Not a good morning, just heard there's been a fatac somewhere near the Forest of Dean, if it was on the A40 there are also several GATSOs around there too. Not a good start to Sunday Another bulletin on local radio says three dead in the Forest of Dean single vehicle crash.

The thing is people floor the gas after a seeing a camera or scamera van to make up lost time hence the road is more dangerous after a speed trap.
