Went out last night and car seemed ok.Then found the idle irratic.Dropping low enough to knock the charging off.Went to put some Optimax in,as wondering if the fuel gauge was reading right.£20 later and tank full so yes.Wouldnt start in the forecourt very well, seemed to go well enough, but on the cruise felt like it was trying to hold back.Put car in the garage and today it would hardly run.Very rich out the exhaust and unable to run. What's up guys?.The Haynes Granada manual tells me not a lot.My old bible is not that in depth and the Ford garage said could be lots of things.Just give me something to look for.The car ran perfectly on Sunday.Cheers all

One thing that might be worth trying. Remove the throttle pot and see if it runs at all, I believe if you remove it the car goes into 'fallback' or 'get you home mode'. Maybe unplug the ECU and reconnect which will reset it and see if it runs.

I could be talking out of my arse here but I seem to remember you've checked or replaced all the obvious points.

Good Luck,
JSG.

JSG,cheers for the reply.I decided that the throttle pot, since always a problem with the cars,I bought a new one.Fitted it this evening and......VROOOOOM.Can't believe such a pi$$y piece of plastic could cause such maladies. The engine runs smoother at tickover and all the previous problems have disappeared.I celebrated by put the old one on the workbenck and wielding the biggest hammer I own blew it to oblivion!!!!!!

Throttle pots are about £40 from a Ford dealer.
