Has anyone tried fitting a leather dash?

Hi all,

Fancy changing my wood veneer dash but don,t fancy a ali one. Has anyone tried covering there wood dash with leather ? Thought this might look good.

Have a Starmist Chim with Magnolia and blue Interior.Was wondering how difficult it might be to cover the wood with blue leather.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

would be dead easy, taking out the dash and water temp sensor is the fiddly, dull bit.

think it might look quite nice too. how about a nice zebra stripe, or possibly even a cow print?

When I had my Griff re-trimmed the trimmer suggested I have this done - I didn't take him up on the offer.

Don't think it's behond the capabilities of 'amateur', you should be able to do this yourself.

I remember last year I managed to 'search' for dashes and people posted carbon fibre to leather trimmed - try a search in the griffith forum.

Paul V did it to his Griffith - I dont think he had too many problems & it looks great.

Didn't think it should be that difficult. Not very good at anything pratical myself but might consider sending to a specialist.

Not quite the same, but I have a leather dash on my Cerb, which was done when the car was retrimmed by the previous owner. I suspect it was probably a bit fiddly getting round all the dials, but with very pale cream leather I think it works better than wood or aluminium.
