A friend has asked to help him move from his apartment only has a few bits of furniture but has a 49" tv with no box, i have a van, His double bed with mattress will be going in, is it ok to lay the tv on the bed flat wrapped in a blanket? google brings up mixed opinions about laying tvs flat which is confusing,

I wouldn’t if it was my own TV.

Weight of the screen will bear downwards. May or may not cause damage but I would avoid it if at all possible.

You should be ok provided you treat it like a mirror. Normally I try and transport upright though, see if there is a spare box at Currys etc you can borrow.

LCD should be ok. It's plasma's that can go a bit funny if laid on their front/back.

It should be fine as long as it is a fairly new light weight one...as someone said Plasma screens would break if transported like that. The weight of the glass would crunch/pull the edges and the connectors would break rendering the screen scrap.

My 65" inch 36kg Panasonic plasma was driven flat for 50 miles on a duvet protecting underneath and round the sides and lifted in and out of the car twice with no issue but people are right, avoid if you can and be very careful.
