Freelander battery drain!
Discussion
After heralding how brilliant the freelander I have had been it has decided to throw a wobbler ...
Over the past few weeks I have noticed the car starting to struggle to start, so I popped the battery on charge and decided to replace it last weekend.
Replaced it yesterday and it worked perfectly, wide has gone to drive home from work today and it’s totally dead, a brand new battery (correct one) I bought yesterday.
Anything I can do to start fault finding? I’m guessing there is a serious power drain / circuit stuck ‘on’ and I am assuming I need a multimeter to find it?
Thanks

I put this in GG as there is a limited audience in the LR forum ... anyway ..
I don't think it is battery drain, the car will just not start then suddenly jump into life, when the key is turmned you only get a single click, no "whirr" nor the sound of a dying battery.
It could be the starter motor sticking or dying or a bad connection somewhere; for example jumped in this morning (started 1st time), stopped at the petrol station (took 10+ tries / 8+ mins) then it jumped into life, stopped at work and it started first time (as a test after stopping).

As your first check - having eliminated a flat battery - thoroughly check the earth leads/straps & all connections on the starter motor.
Very likely you will find one loose or corroded.
If they are plastic covered it's not unusual on older cars to find that the ends look fine but the bit under the sheathing has corroded away to virtually nothing.
Be worth carrying a decent jump lead & if it does it again connect one end of the lead to the battery earth terminal & the other to a good clean point on the engine & see if it makes any difference.
