Yellow Alert...Interloper Invades Cerb Forum!!
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Well....the deed is now done...........here she is.....
I suppose I am now a 'lurker' on the Cerbera Forum.....
The good news is that we sold the former Yellow Peril, C9RBE just one hour before going to pick up our Sagaris.
Paul is a local Essex lad and says he intends to bring the Cerb to our Meets.
I have told him what a great bunch of mates you are on this forum and he has said he intends to get himself logged on and join in..........
Be gentle with him.....
I hope he does as I would love to read about it...it is a really good Cerb........
As for the Sagaris.......well.......Jeez....it is just awesome and I looooove it!!!!
But I will pop back every now and then....if only to post up a 'yellow' pic on a 'blue' thread......
Course...it won't be a Cerb...but then I'm sure you'll forgive that...
...won't you!!!!!
Pauline xx

Where are the yellow wheels Pauline?
I knew you lot would give me some stick...I'm going to miss it.....
We did consider changing the wheels....but only for a nano second
She looks just right as she is.........in our opinion of course.
I realise that it would have been soooo much better Kojak if she had been BLUE.....but it isn't......

when the sag is run in perhaps you
could give us an unbiassed opinion as to the real
difference in performance between it and your old
cerb. would be interesting for us cerb owners.
The Saggyarse is already run in...(Pauline told me herself on Friday)...but you'll have ask Ray, how the car really goes!
would make a comment about the colour, but the colour only applies to Cerbies!

I know you meant this as a joke Satman, but really it is quite true.....
I didn't drive the Cerb enough to make honest comparisons performance wise.
Every time I got in the Cerb it was like learning to drive her all over again.....I was never really comfortable driving her.
I did drive one very long distance in the ex Peril and I did drive it on the track..........but it was mainly short run stuff.
So..yes..Ray will be sat looking over my shoulder if there are any technical comparisons being made.
But I can give you some ordinary ones of my own now....
Now....please let me say one thing from the start....
As a passenger..I LOVED our Cerb...and still would if we had it...it was a awesome car and has given us sooo many laughs and such fun over the last five years....
and anyone from Mid Essex will tell you that I was really concerned that Ray would regret going from a really good example Cerb to a Speed 6 anything.
So the next few points may be considered negative...but they are just my observations on DRIVING her from my point of view and ones with which Ray would not necessarily agree....
I am not a dainty feminine type..
as you can tell from the piccy. In the Cerb, in order to ensure foot to the floor for the clutch, I had to sit quite a long way forward.
In doing this, my legs were very close to the steering wheel and because I have the seat quite upright, I was always in front of the side mirror and very close (so it seemed) to the screen.
I felt very cramped...with impaired visibility...especially on motorways....
The gear stick was very high and the handbrake (a typical Cerbera unmodified version!! :S) had to be hauled to the ceiling to have any effect and then I was struggling to release it.
The drive at low revs in town traffic I found very uncomfortable and ...
...shunty.....I'm sure you know what I mean......and it was hot.....very...very...hot. The first thing I noticed in the Sagaris was that it didn't kill my knees (cartilegde problems)to get in and out of her.....especially the driver's side.
there is buckets of room in her....no cramped feeling at all.
I didn't have to alter the seat forward or the rear support forward...Ray and I can now leap in and out without any adjusting!!!
The ride is soooo much more smooth..
You can sit crawling slowly in traffic and it's like being in an ordinary car......until you use the right foot to accelerate away....
There is no shunting, and it doesn't get hot hot hot..(although I've not yet been caught in an M1 traffic jam!!)
The movement through the gears is sooo much cleaner....although Ray tells me it's the same gear box... I didn't believe him...
Even he says that I change gears noticably a lot more smoothly in the Sagaris.....
Performance wise...it's hard to tell yet cos I haven't driven it at any speed....
Once we got her home and I could drag Ray out of the driver's side, I just drove her round and round our local roads and villages and through the town centre..
Noticed a difference there immediately....
In the Cerb people turned round to see what was coming.....
The Cerb was sooo loud, popping spitting and banging that it attracted attention from people with their backs to you....
This one doesn't....she is much quieter.....but she certainly attracts attention from those looking her way.....and because the Sagaris is a bit rare at the moment, she generates a different sort of comment...like....Holy Sh*t was the F
k is that.....
All I can say at the moment re a difference, is that I love driving the Sagaris...in fact, Ray is going to have a real job keeping me out of the driving seat.
And I now know all about that 'Grin' factor...cos I've spent the entire time driving her saying...wow....woo hoo..and grinning like a cheshire cat
As we get to use her a bit more...I will happily do a comparison, but to offer a more informed and technical comparison I'll have Ray sitting offering words of wisdom....cos he knew the Cerb inside out.....
Gosh.....long post...sorry......

Nice posting Pauline, I agree with just about everything you said except for the cabin space bits 'cos I'm a bit taller than you.
My Saggy has 2,600 miles clocked and it's now getting the full treatment, as it should, in appropriate places. I went for the close ratio gear box option did you? The Speed 6 doesn't kick in until 4,000 rpm and then it pulls right thru to 7,000. There is a gap with this box between 1st & 2nd when you briefly fall beneath this power band but once you wind it up in 2nd, going thru to 4th, using the full width of the band, it is very impressive.
How does it compare to the Cerbera?
We know why 4.5s are not as responsive from a standing start as the 4.2s, but mine has 64,000 miles clocked now and it still pulls incredibly and reaches the 3 figure mark quicker than the Saggy. I suspect the top end is higher too but I don't go there too often. The Saggy engine is still a bit tight, you can feel the effect of the engine breaking when you lift off and it apparently won't be fully loose until it's done 5,000 miles.
The Saggy feels very different though, as you'd expect from the ten years that have elapsed , there is just no comparison in terms of road holding. There is less roll and it's pointier and so well balanced, it just keeps sticking. It's going out on the track later this month at Silverstone so I can hopefully find out how it handles when it starts to let go.
Hope to meet up with you guys soon...
