I've recently become a director of a double glazing business, serving domestic customers. Part of my initial remit is to review everything from top to bottom which in most areas is fine but the one thing I'm not sure on and really want to be is insurance. I have looked at the HSE site but nothing jumps out.

We contract out all the installs to another company, who have several workers (as I understand it on a self employed basis). I'm concerned that if one of these guys falls off a ladder or whatever we will somehow be held responsible.

What insurances do we need? What insurances does the contractor need? What is legally required and what is belt and braces?
