What does "temporary supply" mean?
Discussion
My 19yo daughter applied for a job with Glasgow City Council as a nursery worker. She has received an email saying she hasn't score highly enough for a permanent position but offering her a temporary supply position. She has ten days to accept or decline. However, there is no information in the email saying exactly what is being offered e.g. pay, hours, holidays etc.
She is trying to contact the council HR department for more information but in the meantime, can anyone in the know advise what a temporary supply position actually means in practice e.g. hours worked, pay, holidays, sick pay, benefits etc...?

A supply teacher is one that stands in if a permanent member of staff is ill so I guess it's a short term version of that. I'm betting it'll be zero hours and she has to be on standby.
Thanks for the reply. She has now accepted the offer. She finally got through to someone in HR yesterday who told her that she will be a council employee with the same pay and conditions as a permanent employee, but instead of being based in a fixed nursery, she will move around to cover long term absence and maternity leave. He assured her that there is plenty of work, with 50 nurseries currently turning away kids due to a lack of supply staff.toddler said:
