Noticed that, after a trip of driving about 4 miles, the engine was emitting a lot of heat. I may be stupid, but it felt excessively hot when walking past the nearside front tire. Holding my hand near the top of the wheel and felt a real big amount of heat. Car temperatures are fine, thermostat was replaced in March. Opened the bonnet and it felt very hot in there.

Is it just a characteristic of the V6 TFSI? I feel that, as its a high performance motor, with a small amount of plastic on top of the engine, it just gets very hot, but it does feel unusually warmer than I would expect. The cooling fans seem to kick in a lot with this engine, even now when its becoming a bit colder as the days pass. This car never really sees long trips either, however that is why we bought a petrol in the first place.

Temp gauge is programmed to sit at 90 between quite a range of 'normal' temperatures so it is possible that it's getting a bit hot but not so bad that the fans need to keep it in check.

If it's had a thermostat I suppose it's possible there's air trapped in the system.

If you think there may be an issue and it's unusually hot maybe get it checked out for peace of mind.

Valeter when cleaning my S3 last year said he thought it smelled funny - close inspection found a very slight fuel leak. When it comes to cars your intution is well worth listening to.

Have noticed it has a slight smell, but I have attributed it to it being a petrol, and us being used to smelly diesels, so I have been assuming its just the smell of a petrol. However, it does also hiss when the engine is turned off after being driven, but I assume that is the self bleed. I may get it checked at an Audi specialist, does anyone know of any good specialists in Manchester?
