Gerbing XRS-12 heated short gloves -- not watch compatible?

I recently bought a set of Gerbing XR-12s but they just seemed obscenely long in the cuff, so I've swapped them for the shorter XRS 12.
These have turned up and they look good, but I'm a bit surprised about the location of the zip inside the cuff. Do people have an issue with this? It seems perfectly placed to destroy wristwatches and also to dig into my (admittedly bony) wrist.
