I have been running a 56 plate E65 750i for the last 3 months and I have to say I love the drive and can live with the economy or lack thereof...
it’s sitting on 109000 now and the engine seems pretty sweet for that but... and there’s always a but.

There is a coolant leak and it is a pretty damn good one losing a litre every 4-600 miles which is not going to be cheap to find I’m sure... any ideas as to where it might be would be appreciated.

The rear door handle passenger side came away which was fixed today and the drivers seat sensor mat has had to be bypassed as I knelt on the seat and think I broke the sensor mat. I’ve got two bonnet gas struts to replace over the weekend as balancing the bonnet on my head as I pour in the coolant is getting tedious... I’d call these niggles unless I end up spending a small fortune on the water leak.

I do like that!
As the years roll by, I think they look better.

Sorry I cannot add anything constructive on the loss of coolant.

Lovely motor; I’ve had my E65 730D for around 3 months now too... Did look into the 750s but unfortunately the tales of the valve stem oil seal rebuilds put me off (that and the dogs of cars I saw). There was a stunning 750i for sale over in York but his asking price was too high IMO and I really wanted a sport, which is what I’ve got.

Your coolant leak could be the water pump; they’re known for doing this, as well as the header tank cracking, so get them looked into ASAP before they fail completely

I’ve spent a fair chunk of £££ on mine already, biggest lump was trying to suss the SRS warning light which turned out to be a module on the battery mains cable, that was a £500 bill in the end! Rest has been on suspension and brakes, usual bits for these (they eat suspension arms due to the weight etc)

This is mine: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Look for a coolant leak in the area around the water pump - could be the coolant cross tube leaking. There are cheap and cheerful repairs for this however.

Glad it was sorted smile

Re the door handles; they're held tight, internally, via a sliding clip and you can access this via the plastic grommet on the side of the door as you look at the handle.

My advice would be to remove the grommets, get a torch, shine it in, find the clip (small hole in it), use a small allan key in some mole grips, insert it into the clip and pull on it firmly, this makes sure all the handles are tight as they should be, as over the years they could work loose and then suddenly, you're not able to open the door via the external handle, more so if you've the soft close option!

Both my passenger side handles were like this when I bought the car; direct sunlight made it worse!
