Hi guys what would I need to do if I got hold of a new unit to allow it to work with the car? Is it a case of just flashing a map across or will it need codeing to the vehicle? It's an monaro VXR.

The immobiliser will need coding as when you put your key it it needs to accept the key before it starts , is old ecu not repairable there are lots of companies out there ?

I'm unsure if it's a simple swap, I believe there is also the 'BCM' (body control module) that MAY require pairing with the ECM in some way, but I'm not sure.

You could also try asking on www.ls1gto.com, the Yanks have probably done it. It's a lot quieter there than it used to be though of course...

How come you need an ecu?

Hopefully you have a full copy of your tune including operating system? In which case you can do a full flash of tune and op system to the new one.

Having an issue with a cylinder 4 injection but swapped injector and stayed with that cylinder and have replaced the signal cable to the injector with no luck so seems like the driver in the ECU is playing silly buggers.

So you have confirmed that

1. There is no physical connection to the ecu from the signal wire at the injector to ecu ?

2. The ecu is not actually attempting to operate that injector ?

Both fairly simple tests with a multimeter.

Very very unusual for a driver to die without any actual causation.
