Can anyone identify what looks like an adaptor fitted to my 350i? Is it a distance piece to bring the wheel nearer to the driver. Looks a bit ugly when fitted as it stands proud of the steering plastic shroud. Don't know if I can dispense with it as there are 6 screw holes in the wheel and only 4 in the alloy housing that fits the steering shaft. Any thoughts appreciate. J C.

I think the standard wheel was deeper so it does look like someone has fitted a spacer. Suspect the one in your picture should have a bellows style cover over the metal as per this

I would have thought you could get something to replace it if you wish.
Cheers Steve

I have the same set-up on my 350i but with bellows fitted as per the previous link. It has a BL steering column, TR7 I think.

Looks like a crude and basic safety feature, collapsible spacer?

Thanks for the replies. The bellows is probably the answer, expensive though. J C.

Maybe you could get Zig to run up a leather cover I'm sure his rates are very reasonable.

Thanks Adam. It would certainly look more attractive. Any thoughts Zig if it could be feasible please? J C.

Adam is right..my rates are very reasonable..smile...But as Glen say's, there is already a solution and will probably involve less faffing around...smile

Thanks Zig for the offer but as posts indicate the bellows would be the answer. Cheers. John C.
