Residuals on this AP Roo
Discussion
Hi all
Don’t know too much about these but one took my fancy yesterday
What do you think the residuals will be like on this?
Like a daytona or will it just be hard to flog in the future and sink like a stone?

Thanks

I really wanted this model a few months back, (is known as the rubberclad I believe) however the rubber bezel is easily damaged and is a £3,200 repair to get a new one. as looked at two for sale which had just been repaired. The price of that one is very steep as I found watchfinder to be the most expensive place to buy a used high end watch with little or no room for negotiation.
I ended up spending more but got the upgraded full gold model for 26.5k where any damage can be easily lazered or polished back to new with ease.
This model is newer and has the open back as well. To give you an idea on value the rubberclad model has gone up a bit in value (at one point you could get a good used one for 19k) My model shown below also risen from its bottom point of 23k a few years ago as well.
I wouldn't sell mine for less than 26k if I wanted to sell it, which I may to fund a new business if you are at all interested.
I like you wanted the rubber model but it can look tatty very quickly and there is no cheap way to repair the damaged rubber so that is why I ultimately changed my mind. The model A P replaced it with now has a ceramic bezel so will not damage but is larger and 29k plus.
Great watches though and literally everyone I know has a Rolex of some sort so is nice to have something a bit rarer that still will hold or increase in value. Rolex/ AP/ Patek/ Richard M (model dependent of course) should hold or increase in value (I did a lot of research with dealers before purchasing).

What a great reply, thank you.
Ok, thanks. Where do you suggest buying from?
I’ve bought from blowers and mark worthington in the past but mainly watchfinder but am a bit naffed off with them given how much I’ve spent with them and they always use the ‘knock a token gesture off line’ and tell me they have no margin when they do.

26470OR.OO.A002CR.01. is the model number, I have bought multiple watches over the years from luxe watches in essex, they have a simular watch to mine on there website for sale. It was there where I was exploring options as at the time I was only knowledgeable with rolex watches so went there as they have quite a few APs in stock.
I had a Rolex Skydweller for part ex against the new daytona white face they had and still have in stock but really liked the gold A P they had.
Ended up doing a private deal with someone on a watch forum and saved the dealer margin on the gold AP I bought.
If you like the gold model, let me know.
Problem for me now though is unless its a platinum daytona, any other rolex will feel like a downgrade to any sports A P.

The residuals on it (at that price!) will be terrible. You would lose up to 10k selling trade, but that's only because that is a speculative over inflated watch finder price.Don’t know too much about these but one took my fancy yesterday

I would recommend looking on chrono24. The ROO rubber clad can be bought for 19k-20k, pretty much the same price as 2-3 years ago they have not risen in value, dealers here listing watches for thousands more in a small niche market like used AP's are does not equal 'risen in value'. I looked briefly and saw a couple with box/papers at just under/around 20k list price on chrono24 if you don't mind buying from overseas. Even UK wise you can get one for a lot less than 24k+
It won't rise in value much if at all as the used AP market is very different to used Rolex, but if you buy well you won't lose too much either.
The rose gold case ROO below is stunning and would be my choice out of the two even though it is more expensive.
I would advise trying both on, they wear very big more like a 44mm or 45 mm try before you buy strongly advised.
