Hi, does anyone know what the service intervals on the SQ7 are? Also interested in owners views. Not a car I've previously considered but heard one recently and I think it's got my attention smile

cheers

You are aware that its not the engine that sounds good?

The SQ7 is fitted with speakers (Soundaktor) that plays an audio file through the exhaust.

It may play in the cabin, but there is also a seperate system.

There is an SQ7 that drives past my house every day - sounds anything BUT diesel.

It's variable/longlife service. Mine thinks it will get to around 20,000 before the first service. There have been other threads on the SQ7, had mine nearly 2 years now, it is doing the job for which I bought it very nicely. It's much improved on the previous generation.

Thanks mate. 20,000 sounds good to me (same as my Cayenne - 20k or 2yrs). How many mpg do you get out of interest? I need to go and view one as ideally i didn’t want anything much bigger than Cayenne but looking at them in the car park they look HUGE! I also notice some have loads of options (packs) and others have hardly any extras. Are there any extras worth having? Cheers

It's currently averaging around 33mpg over 15,000 miles so far. Usage is a mix of urban and B roads (does high 20s mpg) and motorways (does high 30s mpg). It's not as big as you think, you get used to it pretty quickly. I drove mine around central London last weekend no problem.

The SQ7 comes pretty loaded, I didn't add many options, though I regarded the panoramic sunroof (£2000) and Dynamic suspension pack (£5700) as vital. The SQ7 was really designed to have the Dynamic suspension pack with the 4WS. A lot of dealer ex-demos DIDN'T have this pack as they spunked the cash on cosmetic baubles on the car instead, but most private buyers go for it. The options are stupid money quite frankly, so it's a personal choice whether you need the speed managing cruise control, self parking, head up display, night vision, upgraded stereos etc. I decided I could like without all those. I sometimes wish I had gone for the full leather interior but it was bonkers on price (£6000 I think) and having already been fleeced £2000 for a towbar I didn't feel like giving my dealer the full reach-around. I also went for a 5 year warranty extension as there's a lot of new tech on the car and I plan on keeping mine for a long time. Another option I wish I had now, having it on another car, is a top down camera. Thought it was a bit of a gimmick but it's incredibly useful, much more so than the rear camera. I have 21" wheels because I thought the standard 20" wheels on the SQ7 when I ordered mine were yuck. Personally I would keep the rims as small as possible, but I know I'm in the minority on valuing comfort inside the car against looks outside of it.

Think of it as more like a tall estate than a SUV, it's much lower than a Range Rover (you get in an SQ7 normally but you have to climb up into a RR). It's not a sports car but if you want the space and versatility, and then want something that's as quick and as good to drive as it can be, then it's a good choice.

That's great Phil - thanks for the detailed reply. I had a look at the weekend on the Audi Used car locator and I don't think any had the Dynamic pack! Tbh I don't think I would buy one without it - I'm used to throwing my Cayenne around so feel I need the Dynamic pack (I also read it's supposed to be a very good option). Pan roof is nice but I could live without it if I could have a Dynamic pack car. Agree on wheels - standard ones make it look like a standard Q7 (IMO). I would really like the full leather, but again I could possibly live without it if I found the right car at the right price.

I think 33mpg is fantastic for a car of this size and power! I did 100 miles in my Cayenne yesterday, across mainly back roads, and I only averaged 32. I was driving briskly, but you have nearly 200hp and 2 cylinders more than me!

Thanks mate

Did 300 miles in the SQ7 fully loaded up with furniture yesterday on motorways and A roads. Took it easy, just keeping up with the flow 50-80mph. Averaged 42.4mpg for the trip.

Given cancellation of this engine for Porsche and Bentayga, I’d buy an SQ7 now before they replace it with a Tfsi that drinks 3 times as much. It’s just a great unit for this size of car.

if you are looking for a factory order - they are pretty much on hold. all my dealer knows is that they are being advised Q1 delivery dates and awaiting confirmation of any MY 19 updates.

I'm starting to look at getting one as need the passenger space

My neighbor has one and when he drives past it sounds very good, pretty sure that noise isn't coming out the speakers

That is cracking PhilboSE. Almost hard to believe a 2+tonne V8 can average over 42mpg! Can't remember best I've seen out of my Cayenne but think it's around the 45 mark. The SQ7 is quite a car.

Heard one of these in a local underground car park yesterday and it sounded fantastic - even my partner commented on it. We were very impressed.
