Well sort of biggrin

Hopefully we can stop the turbo rumours right here - sounds NA and just like the 991.2 GT3 to me... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=35&amp...

The End.

I watched that last night too. Warmed the cockles of my heart to hear that howl.

tbh I'm not really too fussed if it did come with a turbo (it'll be good either way) but nice to see it will be another 9krpm NA screamer - at least we know it works smile. Also heard a rumour (yes OK it's a rumour but I can see some fact in it) that the 992 GT3 models will appear in the 992 cycle earlier than usual - think something along the lines of end-2019... interesting

well if the GT4 spy shots are anything to go by , we can expect this in 2022 :-) and 4 years of which engine will it have as they test every configuration :-p

on a given note, as soon as a car is launched ie this time the 935 there are spy shots of the next thing, they time it to perfection to keep every one talking.

992 GT3 Touring in manual seen testing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&...

Fill yer boots!

eta at 2:57s it sounds like PDK? Same reg plate, and clearly sounds manual in some fly-bys but not sure about the 2:57s pass?

You could be right re hitting the limiter. Does sound indistinguishable from a PDK shift (to me) but your theory makes sense. The car is on the same plates so has to be one or the other.

re GT4, not been following it lately (bored of the same rumours) but my thinking is like buses.. they'll all come at once. Factory shut down, diesel scandal (although maybe not directly affecting the GT arm but must have some impact!), and new regs have totally cocked up their pre-planned schedule. They are probably just making it up as they go along now hehe

tricky as in manual mode the PDK will hit the limiter also.

nice red disks and seems a CS spec with cage.

The reason quoted for the halting of Hybrid production was cited as there being higher volume models that take priority for getting cars through emissions testing so maybe that’s hitting GT4 timing. It seems they have to test every spec which is why only GTS is going to be available on 991.2.

100% manual. No question about it if you listen to the clip from the start... but know what you mean - the gear change at 2:56 is very PDK sounding. It got me scratching my sack

I’m no expert but a few things catch my eye/ear:

- it doesn’t rev that high. 7500rpm maybe.

- 2:30 shows it has lights across the full width of the rear which is a 4wd feature isn’t it?

- disc rotors look rather small for a GT car

re vid in OP: Agree - but he/she doesn't really seem to be pushing the car - just tootling round by the looks of it. It's clearly NA though so if it's not a GT car I have no idea what else it could be..

A few more mules floating about with what could be active aero on the rear spoiler. Autoexpress saying next year will debut.

Like the 718 GT4 Mules - that rear bumper treatment is something only a mother could love at present...What is going on there?

According to an article i read yesterday there will be two different versions of 992 .An EU version with a GPF fitted which weighs 7.5Kg and a ROW version sans GPF which apparently sounds noticeably better and crispier..
Are both versions going to perform identically, i suspect not..!

Bit more info. As widely hinted - the next GT3 will arrive quicker than previous models and could be on the configurator to order this time next year with deliveries 2020..

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motor-shows-la-...

The next Porsche 911 GT3 will be innovative with its suspension system but retain rear-wheel drive and most likely a naturally aspirated engine without any hybrid assistance, according to Porsche GT boss Frank Walliser.

Speaking at the Los Angeles motor show, where the new 992-generation 911 has been revealed, Walliser said that his department “has some really cool ideas on the GT side for suspension". "There’s more potential again, and it will be very much a GT3”, he said.

The next GT3 will arrive around a year after the launch of the standard 911, meaning a 2020 on-sale date is likely. Walliser hinted that it would retain a naturally aspirated engine and not adopt four-wheel drive, giving Porsche a key point of difference still when rivals have gone with one or both of those technologies.

“We’ve discussed four-wheel drive, but with a rear-engined concept it has a different impact than on a front-engined or mid-engined car,” said Walliser.

“Part of the GT cars is that they’re raw, they’re lightweight; four-wheel drive gives you something in the wet but adds 50kg, and you lose some of the fuel capacity of our 90-litre tank.

“We’ve discussed but come to the conclusion two-wheel drive on the 911 layout is best. It can handle the power, no problem, with the chassis and tyre technology all helping.”

Another topic of discussion at GT has been hybrid technology for the 911, but the conversation “has not gone from the tea kitchen to meeting rooms” yet.

“With the performance hybrid knowledge we have, what will the future GT car be like?” Walliser said. “With a GT car, it’s really simplified as giving perfect feedback and a very light design. It’s more than engine power; it’s other refinements that make a good car.

“It’s in a niche market, but it’s a big niche, and we have an asset that we don’t want to give up.”

To that end, hybrid power remains a long way off, but don’t expect to see a turbocharged GT3, either, Walliser hinted, contrary to the claims of some. “Turbo adds another 40kg, a hybrid more so,” said Walliser.

“Normally aspirated and hybrid fits together very, very well. The 918 Spyder was hybrid and normally aspirated. It’s the most emotional thing we have, and we have to stay emotional.”

A manual gearbox is also set to be retained, after it was retuned to the Mk2 version of the 991 GT3. Around 25% of all GT3s are sold with that option and as many as 75% in the US.

Yet Autocar publish in their magazine this week that the new generation GT3 will adopt turbo power!
