Question for MLR Compliance Professionals

I am thinking of enrolling with the International Compliance Association for one of their three Diplomas, probably the financial crime one. The Association seems to be fairly small so I thought it prudent to see if those in the industry regard the qualification (or, indeed the Association!) positively.

In my niche MLR stands for Medical Legal and Regulatory ... so might be a good idea to expand your acronym in the title.

I'm guessing you already work in AML/Financial crime given you're aiming at the diplomas.

If the company is paying for it, go ahead. If not then you need to ask yourself what you want to get out of it.

If it's to learn/upskill, then the ICA qualifications teach you more of the theory side of things, but not how to practically apply it in the workplace.

If its for the CV, then they do look good as they are fairly recognised, but certainly not essential even if a lot of job adverts ask for them. A strong candidate without a diploma will trump an average candidate with one all day long.

I'm really pleased I posted. Your mild endorsement of the ICA is made even milder by the fact I already hold 3 academic quals and I was hoping the ICA qual might address the practice-side skills which I lack. I might still sign-up for the pleasure of learning, but at least I won't now overestimate its workplace kudos.
