Never been to Glasto and have registered for 2019. There's 6 of us all trying to get tickets, how much chance have we got? We was going to try get the coach tickets tonight and if that failed then get the 'normal' tickets. Ideally we would avoid the coach at all costs as I imagine its a nightmare.

We got picked up on the Wednesday from Birmingham to travel down, reasonable coach and surprisingly not full, though the luggage compartment largely was. As it transpired after we'd got down the M5 a bit there should have been another pick up, you could hear the heated exchange between the steward and HQ but luckily he said there was no way they were turning back now and stuck to his guns, phew. Felt pretty sorry for the poor sods that had been left behind though. For reasons only known to the driver we seemed to stop at every single services and it took an age to get there. Was getting dusky by the time we finally got through the gates. This meant all the camping fields were now rammed and we struggled to find a spot. I honestly don't know where you'd camp now if you turned up on a Thursday! Anyway that bit wasn't so bad, and soon became a distant memory after a few ciders.
Fast forward to Sunday night, the site was now a quagmire, and as The Who were playing the closing set on the Pyramid stage the rain was getting heavier. Our coach out of there was scheduled for 3am! We went back to the tents, sat inside for a while in the pissing rain, before deciding to pack up at some stupid hour and get out of there. Trudged down to the coach area to be greeted by what could only be described as a scene form some sort of zombie apocalypse movie. Lots of the undead trudging around, random announcements about what coaches were leaving from where, to where and when but in reality nobody really had a clue including the announcer. Lot of folk were saying their coach had been delayed by hours or they may have even missed it and nobody to really help advise. No shelter so we hung around getting very wet now praying that we did have a coach to go home on. Luckily it was announced though we still weren't certain.
The coach down was a decent affair. The coach operators had obviously heard about the state of things on site and I'm surprised our return coach was road legal (it may not have been!). The probably planned to get us back to Brum (with luck) and then take it to the scrap yard. We piled our stuff into the luggage compartments, most went in, some went on the coach. And then the many hour trip back with a coach load of very soggy, smelly people, myself included. No chance to change into dry stuff or anything nice like that.
Icing on the cake was getting back to Brum and trying to to get a taxi home (and to bed). Understandably none of them wanted to take us. In the end we managed to track down a slightly more sympathetic one, promised to try not to make his cab too muddy, and said we'd tip well. Eventually home mid morning to a very large mug of tea and much toast, very long hot shower and then off to bed.
I think we got it easy compared to some.

We decided among us not to bother with the coach last night, friend put on Twitter that 6 of them applied and only 1 managed to get coach tickets for them lot - so it may be more difficult than we first thought to get tickets...

Having been 4 times now and witnessed a few dry festivals and a couple of VERY wet ones, there's no way I'd contemplate the coach! We just need too much stuff to make it a comfortable festival (usually takes two trips to the car with a sack truck each!!) and the horror stories of journeys home just don't seem worth it!
Clean set of comfy clothes in the car for the journey home is always a good idea.
Very ready for Sunday, make sure you've got a couple of computers running through different networks if you can - our usual technique is one wired into the modem, one on wifi and a couple tethered through different phones. Leave one tab auto-refreshing and manually refresh another - no point having more because they'll block your IP temporarily if you have more than 60 refreshes in a minute (to stop anybody creating software to beat the system)

Got tickets for 4 of us, we've been only once before; 2011 and been trying every year since but haven't been lucky.

So got through to the payment screen and then saw 2 in the same name, bit of a panic as there was no "delete" or "revise" option, wife panicking as the hold timer was going down, in the end I bit the bullet and hit the back arrow; pretty sure it would kick me out, luckily it didn't!
As for the coach option, it has never appealed to us relying upon a coach to get there and back so we've never tried.
Let's hope it doesn't rain like it did in 2011.

The need to network can never be underestimated, I got through this year but I was in a network of at least 40 people all trying for each other and only 2 people I know that wanted to go haven't got tickets yet

As someone said above it really helps if you have a large network of people trying for tickets. In six years of trying to get tickets I've only managed to book my immediate group's tickets once, every other time apart from the 2013 sale someone else has managed to get in and book them - and that's with me hammering F5 on two laptops, a tablet and a phone. Finding as many people as you can to share your registration details with seems to be the best way to succeed.
Lots of folk on twitter who missed out seem to think a random ballot would be better, but I'm not so sure that would produce better results as there would still be the same amount of people who miss out, if not more because there would be more folk who wouldn't normally bother making the effort to get up on a Sunday morning to try for tickets who would chuck their name in the hat on a whim.
As for who will headline, I've got a sinking feeling that Arctic Monkeys will be one of them - not a fan at all, especially having seen them bore a crowd to tears the last time I saw them headline a festival. On the upside, there's Rumours that Fleetwood Mac could be there, which would make me a very happy man indeed!

That's the problem with AM - they tend not to play all of their earlier hits which are the most festival-friendly, and instead focus on their more recent stuff which in my opinion is complete and utter dross. When I saw them headline Leeds in 2009 they pretty much played their dull new album in its entirety which had only been released the week before, and very few of their hits. I left half way through 'cos it was so boring. And Alex Turner is a self-obsessed bellend of the highest order! Hoping for Fleetwood Mac, LCD Soundsystem and Idles (saw them at Bestival this year, bloody brilliant). But whatever is on the lineup, the Pyramid headliners aren't what make the festival (some years I've not seen any of them), so whatever the lineup ends up looking like, how muddy it is or how broken I feel at the end of it, it'll still be the best 5 days of the year.

See you on site on Thursday morning. In the last 5 years, myself and a mate always drive down first thing on Thursday morning. There's traffic around Bristol but absolutely zero around the festival. Drive straight in, a casual walk to the gate where again there's no queue...and a short walk to out usual campsite. Result! Regards the headliners, the usual bickering on here will ensure with people saying it doesn't matter who headlines as there's so much to see, and stop moaning, etc etc. Yes there are, but it's great to see a band headline the pyramid stage. Sadly, they just hardly ever put headliners on there that I love.
I would love to see Depeche Mode in that size of gig but problem with Glasto is that they don't pay that much and so it's more if a marketing/prestige reason for bands to do it. I'm not sure if I was DM that I could be bothered doing it for that.
Fleetwood Mac are one of Michal Eavis's favourite bands but have openly said that they have not been offered enough to do it.
Whatever happens, it'll be a blast.

The two unannounced headliners seem quite likely to be The Killers and The Cure (efestivals.com is usually quite reliable for accurate rumours). Not great choices from my point of view, but I don't think it matters a great deal who the Pyramid headliners are. 2014 I didn't see any Pyramid headliners at all (and probably won't this year if it's Stormzy, The Killers and The Cure), some years I've only seen one headliner 'cos there's always something else on worth seeing elsewhere. Personally, I'd happily pay double the current price to go to Glasto without knowing who they've booked until you get on site, it's just that bloody good!

The wife is being more vocal in voicing her feelings regarding the relative poor line up rumours, I want to go as it is far more about the experience, the smaller tents and what else is going on as opposed to just the headliners (however I will definitely be up for the Killers, they are great live) if the rumpurs are correct, plus a couple of our friends are going too so it will be a good laugh; she will go, however if I said to her let's knock it on the head, I don't think she will be bothered.
Reading this year have already announced a great line up so far with the Foo Fighters, Bastille, Royal Blood etc, I an unable to go due to work commitments so she is going with a friend, anyway she dragged me along to Reading last year and she knew I wasn't bothered as the line up was poor IMO.
Also Reading and Glastonbury are completely different IMO; Reading is all about the music, Glastonbury is all about the experience and gems with decent music thrown in.

It's number 5 for me this year - started going in 2014 and haven't missed one since, nor do I ever intend to miss one in the future now I know good it is! I've always managed to get tickets in the main sale, or at least my mates or mates of mates have managed to get through and book mine, but this year I've started doing work for a client who goes every year and knows someone very high up at See Tickets, so I've got a backup going forward in case I ever miss out.
HTP99 - I'm assuming your wife hasn't been before? You need to convince her that the line up rumours do not matter whatsoever, Glastonbury will blow Reading Festival away in every possible way. I've just had a look at the Leeds/Reading lineup - Foo Fighters, Royal Blood (both of whom played Glasto 2017) and a few other bands aside, it's not for me. Especially having been to Leeds a few times when I was younger - lets just say I definitely wouldn't go back there now!
