Morning all, I've got one of our work vans in for a fault at the moment. It's came back that the Lamda/O2 sensor cabling has been chewed through. The quote for replacing is just under £500 (Sensor is £221 plus VAT apparently) This seems excessive to me as I've seen the video of the sensor and wiring (sent from the dealer as part of the health check) and it looks very simple to replace.

Van is only a couple of years old. Does this figure sound about right?

main dealer sounds about right , they arent there to save you any money and will only fit new looms etc

does it look like the sort of damage that could be repaired with a roll of wire and some crimps or soldered joins?

Is the damage on the sensor wiring, or the vehicle loom?

If it's on the sensor side, it just needs a new sensor. You can figure the labour and parts costs as well as I can, but £500 for that seems over the top to me.

If the vehicle loom is damaged, that might take more labour - perhaps a lot more..

It’s on the sensor side so looks like plug and play. I just can’t see two hours labour for this but if it it then it is.
