so getting a new lid for track days

my current shoei has one of these inbuilt sunvisors ...

is that ok for track ... or better to get one with a tinted/clear visor dedicated to the conditions at the time

a lot of the ~£200 helmets have these built in these days so forces me up a bracket !

Depends on how much track riding you do and at what sort of level. For the average novice rider who sits bolt upright as if they’re riding to work it’ll be fine.

As you find yourself tucking in behind the fairings more you will find that the helmet blocks your vision. This is because the area of the helmet over your forehead is extended outwards to accommodate the visor.

I did one day with a Shoei GT Air and found it really annoying that the helmet was blocking my vision and I wasn’t particularly tucked in either.

Well you have a road based touring helmet - its gonna work to a point as would my current Shoei GT Air
If I was going to the track and doing regular track days then I'd just get myself a Shoei X-Spirit 3 and a proper dark visor - done smile

It wasn’t meant to be a dig at anyone! Just my own experience and why the manufacturers don’t make race helmets with sunvisors in. As you know I’m hardly fast myself.

What I would concentrate on at that budget is getting a fibreglass shell over a polycarbonate shell. Fibreglass performs much better at higher speed impacts.
