Anyone else play Airsoft?
My 12yr old lad is recently got into it, playing on alternate weekends. I played with him of his first 2 or 3 goes, but now I leave him to it. Bought him a G&G ARP9 SMG & case for his birthday, and today he got a CZ P-09 pistol.
From what I've seen, most of the guys playing seem very decent and friendly, some have even been kind enough to lend him their guns for him to try. Some of the guys obviously take it quite seriously, with loads of expensive kit. If it wasn't for the cost then i'd probably play a bit more myself.

Not sure if it’s true but someone was telling me the other day you can now get sniper rifles in airsoft. Sounds pretty cool if true, would love to have a go.
Yes, my lad is wanting a sniper rifle for Xmas. Some of the guys turn up with ear pieces, throat mics and wearing GoPro cams!!!
At £25/day I can't afford for us both to play all the time, so I just take him and let him play whilst I go mountain biking etc.
Great for anyone under 16 but any adult who partakes is a little odd.
My brother did it for a stag day and they went up against the local air soft club - made up of middle aged men, and a few 20 somethings.
What the other team didn’t know is 80% of my brothers team were all ex Royal Marines. They battered the s
t out of them. Got banned. Had a great day.

Don’t get too excited over this. Most sites will have a limit to the power in feet per second regardless of being a hand gun, rifle or sniper. The image of sniping someone with a plastic ball at 1000yds just wont happen.
I used to play most weeks for some time and it was fun but my word some people take it far too seriously.
Being shouted at to go over there and do this and do that. Sod off mate, I’ll go where I want. I was very much a lonesome soldier of fortune.

Please tell me you didn’t get banned for beating the other team?! My brother did it for a stag day and they went up against the local air soft club - made up of middle aged men, and a few 20 somethings.

I thought these replica's had to be bright orange nowadays?
Airsofters are one of a tiny number of groups who are allowed imitation firearms, you need to be a member of a club and actually take part a number of times. You'll still be shot in the head by the police if you wave it about in the street, especially if you look 'a bit foreign'

You have to be a member of a club for at least 2 months and attend 3 meetings. Then after that you can buy the "real" looking ones.
I asked beacuse I remember 20 odd years ago buying them from the local model shop, my mate bought an UZI 9mm he was 15 years old.I'm sure he still has some from 20 years ago, whats the punishment these days for having them?

To join my club we had to visit three times spread over a period of time greater than two months. So as a minimum our third visit had to be at least two months after our first visit.
It wasn't cheap for the two of us to do this...
Visit 1) Gun and kit rental x 2 = £80
Visit 2) Gun and kit rental x 2 = £80
Visit 3) Gun and kit rental x 2 = £80
Club membership x 2 = £80
Total = £320
And that before buying him a gun which cost me £180, then BB's & clothing etc....so £500 all in.
Membership gave us both a free game pass for a day, I've given mine to my lad as I'm not bothered about playing anymore. it now costs me £25 per visit for him to play. But he really loves it.

You can however just walk in to your local gun shop and buy a realistic looking airgun. The usual daft UK laws. You'll still be shot in the head by the police if you wave it about in the street, especially if you look 'a bit foreign'
