Polo Blue GT help
Discussion
Morning all
We just purchased a Blue GT which has the RCD510 premium 8 (DAB) stereo with the odd looking touch phone kit (see below) perched on the corner of the dash. Great car but in a nutshell how do we improve bluetooth connectivity to iphone and maybe get NAV too although that is not as important.
Apologies if asked before I did search but couldnt really find the answers I was looking for.
Any help gratefully appreciated swmbo breathing down my neck

Has your RCD unit got a phone button?
What happens when you press it?
Its possible the unit is a retro-fit and they didnt install the SEPARATE bluetooth module for it.
The unit above looks like owner or dealer fit as a cheap alternative or for older factory fit modules that only supported rSAP phones.

It does have a phone button and when pressed it mutes the sound. Im fairly certain it is a retro fit by the VW dealer. I read somewhere that VW were offering this kit with certain models FOC to sweeten the pot but its a dealer fit option.
Edit: Just found where I read about the kit. Its truly bloody awful though.

Right, its going to be expensive, I think you need the additional module, mic cable etc.
Do you have a reputable independent fitter in your area?

Much appreciated thankyou and thankyou for the links I will give them a look later. I am also realising this wont be cheap. Its my own fault but im astounded that a car at this price & spec does not have bluetooth ??
The RCD300 was probably standard, try a dedicated Golf forum or https://uk-polos.net/ for further advice and maybe a fitter in your area.RNS 315 is the easiest and cheapest retrofit route for these to add Nav and integrated Bluetooth, as it's all contained within the unit itself. I'd imagine you could reuse the existing Microphone which will be wired to your external Bury Touch Phone kit in your picture.
The unit itself can be had for around £300 on eBay and you'll also need a GPS antenna for about £10. The standard units on these cars was the RCD 310, so you could sell your 510 on and use that money towards the upgrade.

Thanks for the reply I know this unit well we have it in our Fabia Montecarlo and its not a bad set. If we took out the Bury TPK kit would my phone sync with the existing RCD510. Im asking because there is a phone button present. The unit itself can be had for around £300 on eBay and you'll also need a GPS antenna for about £10. No you'd need to add the '9W7' Bluetooth module to activate the phone button on the RCD 510. Without this it just mutes the audio. Quite odd VW UK didn't just fit the official module rather than the Bury kit.va1o said:

It was part of the standard fit on polos at the time before the MIB units were installed on the facelift.I wonder if there wasn’t the space to fit the 9w7 under the seat or something like that which is why they went for the Bury? It may also be because no polo got the high line MFD which you need to fully utilise the 9w7
