ignition barrel options

I've got a car in with a broken ignition barrel. The end that pokes into the terminal block to rotate it through the positions (off, ign, starter) has broken off meaning the key turns in the barrel but doesn't turn the terminal block rotating bit (hope that makes sense)

The existing ignition key has the meta alarm remote built in. You can buy new barrels and keys but the new key has a moulded end, and I'm not sure if I take the moulding off that the rest of the key will fit inside the existing meta remote part.

Has anyone replaced the ignition barrel on a later griff or chimaera and if so how did you get around retaining the meta remote as part of the new ignition keys?

You could find another barrel and swap the tumblers over. A fiddle but doable.

Did bobfather not do the mod with the key/fob a lot of years ago? I've something in my mind about him doing a write up but I maybe wrong. You could drop him a mail?

I will fit a new barrel and the customer has said he will get the fob bits swapped onto the new keys. David at HF is who the customer said he's going to send them to. sorted thanks for replies anyway.
