What's the best mk1 Audi A5?
Discussion
So... ignoring the steering (yes a 3 series is better), I fancy an A5 coupe (or maybe cab).
Budget up to 15k, would prefer mileage sub-70k.
I have seen some 2.0tfsi units going cheap, but having had a mk5 gti I know the engine well and want something more. So my thoughts are initially an S5 as my mileage is low so no need for a TDI (unless the 3.0 is THAT good?!).
As I understand it the S5 came in a v8 flavour and then a v6? It's a bit confusing as to when the changeover happened? Does anybody have a view on either or both? Also, I am looking at an auto, so have there been different boxes associated with the models and engines?
Any and all help is welcome. If I can narrow the model down a bit I am going to go for a proper look. I have no issue with a 330/335i if that's the right car but i've always liked the A5 coupe shape and want to tick this off if it feels right,
Cheers!

Any S5 you look at will be a V8 when you take into account your requirements, they're a good engine but can suffer coking issues but this isn't an expensive fix, the issue that can be costly is the timing chain (but if you get the car you're looking at inspected they will be able to tell you if the chain is showing signs of wear) apart from that there's not a lot to not recommend.
Do your due diligence & you'll have yourself a very nice car.
The one below is a great deal, fly over they'll meet you at the airport (I've dealt with these guys on a number of occasions) check the car over, at that point you can fly home & they'll ship it to you or (this is the option I recommend to my customers) you could book yourself on the ferry & enjoy a long drive home.
