Hi, I've recently come to find after my servicing/MOT that the break pads/disc were recommended to be replaced (front only)

The car is an A3 2015 TFSI which I have on a PCP with Audi, and I've had it about 15 months now

Audi have quoted me a total £309 for this including labour/parts/VAT etc.

Since it's been a few weeks since those reccomendations and I'm not 100% sure if the discs also need replacing I'm booking in for a free break inspection tomorrow with Audi for them to check in more detail and confirm if the discs also need doing

I have been told that price is quite a bit and I can get it done cheaper if I buy the parts myself and get it done at a local garage which my brother-in-law+mother got some repairs done without any issues.

I did have some questions I was hoping anyone could help me with
- Does anyone know if on a PCP I am required to have it done at Audi?
- If not and I want to buy the OEM parts myself and have it done at a local garage, do Audi directly sell the required parts or will I have to get them elsewhere? Do you think they will they be iffy about this if I ask them tomorrow and tell them I want to do it elsewhere?

The best options to break pads or disks are A) angle grinder B) sledge hammer. These work just as well on replacements as on OE parts.

rolleyes Very funny Mignon

Nullusia, Your approach is correct i.e. confirm that new brakes are actually required, dealers often exaggerate how worn brakes are in order to secure your business.

Audi's price does look expensive, my advice would be don't book it in with Audi, and don't buy parts from Audi either.

I suggest you find a reputable independent or specialist garage to quote you on brakes if required. You can then instruct them to proceed using Genuine Audi parts which they will source and fit for you. It will be cheaper than Audi and won't prejudice you re: your PCP.
