Blade to V MAX
Discussion
I'm forced by my dodgy shoulder to swap my beloved Fireblade for something more upright. Can't stomach the thought of a Harley and the only bike I have ever liked in that style is the full fat V max. I have tried my mates Yam and it is bowel emptyingly fast in a straight line but an absolute pig in corners.
The Blade owners club said I shouldn't jump and the V max owners club implied i was a bit light on my feet for riding a Blade.
The thought of leaving sports bikes forever is quite depressing but she goes up for sale this morning. Off to buy some Werthers originals....

You can always go back. I had a bout of labyrinthitus a few years ago (loss of balance) that took me out of biking for a year or so. Coming back to the R1 was way too much so bought a R1200GS. It got me back on two wheels in a much more manageable way. I then moved on to a superduke and then back to a fireblade. It's not a one way trip.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I'm in the fortunate position of being an ex-motorcycle salesman so I have ridden just about everything. I hate the adventure sports bikes (all of them) and whatever I have , it needs to make me smile when I look at it. V max is a pretty awesome thing to look at (it has to be black) I just don't think I will be getting my knee down any time soon.
The nature of my shoulder problem means I will not be returning to sports bikes so no more track days. Boo.

How about an old school muscle bike, such as the CB1300, Suzuki 1400, Yamaha 1300, Kawasaki 1200etc.
Takes some coaxing into the bends but quite a thrill to get it right and great grunt into the straights.
Not sport bike knee down style but I have seen videos of these on track days and even me as a total novice took my CB1300 around Castle Coombe for a few laps!

had a '99 RRX FireBlade as well as a lightly modded CB1300F (Full Akrapovic, PCV and Various airbox mods gives 141bhp and 101 lb/ft) an old wrist injury from 30 years ago meant that I couldn't ride the blade for than 20 minutes, so I sold it, and improved the suspension of the big CB it already had the same brakes as a Blade, and do you know what? it's hilariously quick around bends for a big old meataxe and all of my pisstaking sportbike riding mates are amazed at it's grunt...
