Breitling Superocean 44

Anyone have one? I've been offered a good condition 2015 model for around the £1500 mark, papers and all. I was considering a quartz Seamaster 41 fro a daily wear (second hand), but this has caught my eye.

I'm concerned that it may be a bit big. I have a Speedy Pro that looks fine though.

Also I know nothing about them really. I won't be diving or anything like that, but I do fancy something that stands up a bit hardier than the Speedy for day to day wear (that isn't my 21st birthday present Seiko Kinetic).

I had the smaller model for a while, bought secondhand, sold again a few years later, got all my money back. £1500 sounds like a very good deal if you've got the full set (boxes, papers, etc.) and it's on a bracelet.

I like the dial, but the whole thing was just a little too shiny for me.

Superocean is a lovely design. I had the yellow face one a few years back, they make for great every day watches.. very solid and i find the rubber straps are great as they don't show up the constant scratches and knocks you inevitably get with metal straps.

I'm selling one of my Breitlings actually.. a 44mm Colt if you're interested. price is negotiable

I had one they are heavy bits of kit and are wrist candy. Just watch out for the winder tubes they tend to strip their threads

Thanks all. I do really like it and it has all of the accompanying paper work and tags. I figure as long as I can re-coup what I spent on it, if I need to shift it, then it is all good.

Now just to sneak it past SWMO...

I had one a year or so back.

Been wearing an Omega Seamaster 300 since 2000 and fancied a new watch and one caught my eye so I went for it and purchased the runner strap (how much can a clasp cost????).

Nice watch but it really doesn't sit on the wrist well as it has a bulbous cover on the base of the watch and to be honest it was really uncomfortable. The other issue is that it is made of cheese and the metal marks really easy as I caught it a couple of times and it left 'dings' and the Omega has been worn for 18 years and is fine.

Sold it in the end and kept the rubber strap and only cost me £300 for a year of wear.

Try it on and make sure you are happy with the fit as it does sit high.

Cheers for the advice. It’ll probably go on a NATO or fabric strap for most days. I am a bit concerned about the size. The biggest watch I have is a 42mm Tag F1 Quartz, which looks ok.

I do realise the Breitlings are a bit more overstated than anything else and the Superocean is the only one I’ve really liked.

My choice would be a Seamaster 300 Co-axial (auto), but that is a fair bit out of my range.

I’m seeing it on Monday as the seller is pick a car up from near me.

They do not tend to hold their value. whenever they come up for sale on watch forum for sale threads, they never seem to sell.

Never buy a watch and expect it to hold any value either new or second hand, unless its a Rolex SS Sports watch.

I have a superocean 42 ltd ed 1/2000, on leather strap, great watch one of my faves, i would not think twice about having a 44mm one, its not much bigger than a 42 to be fair.

You could put it on a rubber diver, or a nato as i think you said.

Good price, if its full set, in fact bit of a bargain.

I have the genuine rubber Breitling strap with the holes in it (cut to size) and the really expensive clasp sat in a drawer if you are interested. If the rubber bit doesn't fit you can replace cheaply it is the clasp that is the costly bit - thing of beauty though.

Make me an offer....

I'm not expecting it really to hold it's value, but as long as I'm not paying above the odds for it. I made the mistake when I first bought by buying a Tag quartz which seem to plummet.

I'll see how I get on with the watch, I've never been a huge rubber strap fan, but I do prefer clasps. I got my Speedy on a bracelet and the clasp is also horrifically expensive. But I'll bear it in mind.
