991.2 16% discount good?
Discussion
i'm looking at a zero mile C4 GTS cab that my dealer has. i would prefer to custom order but not willing to wait for the new model and this is more or less what i want. has pretty much every option amounting to over 10% extra on the GTS base price. they are offering 16% discount. obviously its the 'old' model, but its also a GTS cab which won't be available for some time in the 992.
price is 150k gbp + 15.6k options and 27k discount (prices translated to GBP from my currency).
thoughts if this is sufficient?
i'm also adding another 7.5k of winter wheels and steering wheel change on top so they are getting some change. oh and i bought a new custom order macan PP from the dealer earlier this year which i got a 13% discount on so expect a little effort on their part.

the 7.5k is winter wheels+tyres + 1.6k for alcantera steering wheel.
so you actually think this is a good deal then? i felt given the circumstances of the model change i could get more, but i was a little unsure of pushing for more as the dealer sells 400 cars a year in a small town of 50,000 people. in fact they had another in the spec i wanted that sold before i could find the time to call in.
only issues with the spec are no center lock wheels, no adaptive cruise and a black interior. otherwise its pretty much how i would custom order one.

Seems crazy to buy an out of date model
Not really if getting a large discount, last year we bought a new fiesta pre regd delivery miles with a third off list because the new model had been released! Also done this in the past with Porsche ie 987spyder with 17% off because the 981 Boxster was out (which one would you have bought
) so newer is not always better as we both knowGT4P said:

on cars with tech newer is always better. better EPS, better nav, better turn in, more power etc etc the old cars will drop more than the 16% saved.
) so newer is not always better as we both knowOld spyder was last of an era, the 991.1 and 991.2 were ave cars with early tech, 991.1 was dire EPS and dated nav.
the new S will be better in every way for the driver, better eps, more power, better turn in, the front looks like a RS FFS
991.1 are already 997.2 prices !
its 9 months wait just for a base model cab 992 and i could do with replacing my wife's car before the winter. so 992 isn't an option. the options are new or used. new allows me to lease it for pretty much zero cost and fix a residual that appears pretty good so caps my lost. used, i have more risk of price loss. its really a question of is the price good?
Personally I'd always wait until the new model is out a year-let them iron out a few niggles.
The new model will depreciate anyway, I'd doubt there'll be any discount at the beginning either.
I dunno however if I'd go for the deal they're offering.. Far from me to tell someone how to spend their money!

!
This^ much prefer end of line than a new model , a good example is the early 991.1 had build quality issues and new tech is not always good in the early days as issues arise and updates are implemented over the cars production span.!
Discount on a GtS has got to be better than buying a new less premium model with no discount! If you like the car and it's what you want why wait for a car that may cost more and not be as good!
Another factor is from 1st September 2018 all new cars built are subject to WLTP and have a noise reducing particulate filter so the previous model could seem more attractive in the future
Around near 6 years ago I was up at OPC Kendal. They had a last of the then model 997/991? Unsure now. I do remember it had the single bolt on wheels.
It was delivery mileage last of the present GTS at around 84K which was something like 25-30K off list. I enquired via a motor dealer why the price was so reduced and he thought it because they inform Porsche how many cars they’d buy for the year for better discounts and basically had to get rid as the new model was coming out and they hadn’t sold as many cars for the year as expected.

Sounds like a 997GtS , there was some great deals around 2011/12 ! 2012 was the arrival of 981/991. Like said porsche dealers had to get rid of new old stock, always found you get better deals the northern half of UK compared to here in the south especially in London and Home Counties this is not only Porsche but other major car brands
