Reversing out of the garage and caught the wing mirror on the door frame , it is the Citroen CX type , the mirror unit is fine and the fixing to the door is intact , however the metal fixing between the 2 is sheared , can I buy this part or am I looking for a whole new assembley.

Any advice gratefully received !!

You can buy the metal post from a Citroen dealer, though Tiv dealers also stock them. This is exactly the way I broke mine. A real pig to fit as well. There is a really nasty hidden grub screw in the most in-accessible of places. I may have the part number for the right hand one if it is that one you have broken.

Cheers,
Paul

Ps If they'd made them of butter, they couldn't have been more flimsy.

Thanks for that Paul , a TVR part No is listed in the parts list , but I assume this is the whole assembley , do you have the No for the actual broken part ?
I can see the grub screw, can it be accessed via the s/s plate that is screwed to the door reveal ?

I think I have the number in my garage, I will look it out later. It is for the right hand side stalk, the left will be different, which side have you broken?

The Grub screw secures the bottom ring of the metal assy to the stubb on the door. The stub as you know sits in a recess and therefore as the grub screw is on the upper edge of the assy it is hidden in the recess. I cut a 3.2mm allen key down, and then tightened it with a spanner, leaving the small piece of allen key in the grub screw, i.e it is still there. All this has to be done whilst holding the black plastic coller up away from the door, and this has to be done whilst swearing of course. This was the only way I coud tighten it on mine. There was no access plate on my door.

I hope this helps, and is clear.

Cheers,
Paul

The number on the packaging is 95 647 738 and says made in France so I guess that is the Citroen part number. The part number on the invoice from the TVR garage is W399999 or something like that, which looks to me like a place holder.

Hope this helps.

No problem Guy, my pleasure

Can anyone submit that link to Brodie (www.brodie.co.uk) to the alternative parts list (under mirrors/citroen CX spares)?

I looked for it earlier to do so and couldn't find the page any longer

Looks like a good one to keep for the future as mirrors are frequently sought and it's nice to know we can still get individual components for them at good prices.
