Hi,

So the diesel idea is kind of out of the window now, I dont do enough miles for it to be a good choice despite most diesels now being a bit cheaper than their petrol counterparts. I love the torque on diesels and need something with decent MPG so ideally a 1.4 turbo or thereabouts and it needs to be 5 doors.

I saw this as an example.

Also have been looking at the Giuletta but they maybe out of my price range.

The issue with the Audis and VAG TSIs I can afford is the timing chains.

I'll be going from a Toyota celica which is just killing me on insurance and fuel costs and me and the missus are trying for a baby so it needs to be a bit of fun but practical.

Cheers mate, some interesting choices there.

The Astra turbos have come down in price already since I last looked.

The A3 1.4t is a good car, we used to have one in the family. Well built and quite nippy for what it is. Gave us around 34mpg purely around town.

If it's the 1.4 twin charged supercharged and turbocharged then avoid it, very unreliable units

OP has linked to the 122bhp turbo only variant.
