In the UK?

Is it Downing street, or the Palace perhaps? How about GCHQ or the MI5 building?

Maybe it's a financial institution or the Tower?

Buckingham Palace surely or the Tower of London? I walked along the bridge next to Mi5 and was surprised at the lack of visible security, granted there were cameras but no visible police presence or guards

Was lucky enough to have a tour of the nuclear bunker in Alconbury a few years back.

In an airfield, next to a USAF base and when you’re in and locked down nobody else will be

Impossible to say..

Some buildings will be so secret that they are not and possibly never will be in the public domain.

Probably a tunnel system somewhere secret, similar to those in Kinver?

https://www.drakelow-tunnels.co.uk

Although I heard the underground reservoirs are very well defended.

It’s something us plebs will of course, never know.

Granted that high profile buildings are high security but the real secure stuff will most likely be underground & away from the obvious places.

I’d say they’d be fairly numerous as well.

Probably Porton Down where they produce / test biological weapons and other deadly viruses.

Either that or some of the nuclear facilities.

This is probably about right. The tower / palaces, are guarded by serving soldiers, with standard army issue SA80 rifles. The nuclear sites, Porton down and the like, are guarded by heavily armed police, with automatic weapons. I think I know which would be the preference for any ne’er do wells.

"The ALT" (the alternate command centre (sic)) has to be up there in terms of the ones we know about. (Aka Cheyenne Mountain)
Its basically nuclear bomb proof, even a direct strike will not breach. If you wanted to get out or in you have at least 500m of rock to get through.. in places much more. Good luck!

Project Greek Island must have been pretty secure, although we still don't know full specs. One would assume the UK has something similar....

Whilst very secure all of these I would have thought could be penetrated with sufficient enterprise and force should anyone feel the need. Any security would be concentrated on the protection and rapid evacuation of the occupants. Plus we know where these buildings are.

As others have said, it's unlikely that none of us will ever know and would most likely be something in plain view.
