I would like to paint my alloys that I bought second hand, they have a few scuffs and marks and paint is chipping. I have a few concerns as to how I should go about painting it.

Can I simply just paint over the paint chipped area or do I need to sand that section down, Do I need to strip all the paint and repaint, what spraypaints do I need to get a black shinny look. Could someone help me out please as these are pre painted. I just want to make the whole alloy black or if anyone has any other options or opinions go ahead.

If it's a DIY job, YouTube is your friend for illustration though the level of preparation will be the just as important as the top coat application. I've heard the satin/matt finishes are the easiest to achieve the best results, though the "less is more" approach to applying is the way to go to avoid runs in the paint. A full refurb isn't that expensive if you shop around and will be more durable.

I often think about diy painting my wheels but the amount of time involved in the prep work and finishing puts me off.
A pro job is likely to be £300 but will last years.
