About time for more red light cameras?
Discussion
So long as they get rid of as many speed cameras (particularly average ones with dumb limits enforced) as they add 'red ligh' ones - they can go to town on red light ones as far as I am concerned.
However, I would never encourage anymore ways the state can fine us tbh. Asking for more state monitoring is turkey voting for Xmas time in my view.
Having said that, our 'second ammendment' moment came and went some time ago so we all f
ked anyway.

Having said that, our 'second ammendment' moment came and went some time ago so we all f
ked anyway.I saw an old boy paying zero attention Sail through a red yesterday causing a large aggregates tipper lorry to slam on. Not a care in the world and didn’t even notice!
That said, a camera wouldn’t have stopped the incident and as someone who has had the dubious pleasure of losing in court over a red light offence when I crossed to make room for an ambulance, I would say no I don’t want more red light cameras.

Oh yes, I would vote for more red light cameras. Seeing incidents more and more.
Fat bearded loser in an Octavia VRS estate yesterday, what a dick.
My wife makes a big issue of pretty much everything these days (going through the change), what she forgets, and I take great pleasure in reminding her is that she got flashed by a red light camera. She refused the offer of a course and it was £100 fine and £100 extra on the insurance.
Of course when the letter came she automatically handed it to me, on checking the time and date I swiftly returned it.

What if every traffic light head had a camera in it?
The old boy may pay more attention if great wedges of his pension was being spent on being care-free at every traffic light junction.now there’s an idea.

Cameras would stop those who try and race through but they do so in the full knowledge of what they're doing. There is literally nothing that will stop those not paying attention going through as, by definition, they're not paying attention. Much the same as speed limits don't prevent people not looking properly and pulling out of a side road right in front of you.

More RLC suits me, but don't expect people to go through red lights for emergency vehicles.
They shouldn't be going through red lights for any emergency vehicle unless instructed to do so by a Police Officer. All of the emergency vehicle drivers should know this, and shouldn't try to bully drivers out of their way at a red light, but instead should switch off their sirens and wait for the light to turn green, and traffic to safely move out of their way.
(Where I live though, I have seen both ambulances and fire engines come up behind vehicles stopped at a red light, leave their sirens on, and slowly roll right up behind the vehicles, to "encourage" them [i.e bully them] to move out of the way, including going through a red light).

If it's safe to do so, and it often is, I don't think that bureaucracy should deter people from potentially saving a life! This is why absolute offences are a nonsense. There are plenty of road layouts where a car can trundle a few ft across the stop line without causing any issue, but an emergency vehicle can get stuck behind them if they wait. Likewise, if I'm on a road with an emergency vehicle vehicle behind me, and stopping will not enable them to easily pass, I'll try and match their speed instead. I've done 60 mph in a 40 before, doing that. Of course, not doing anything dangerous, just illegal. And I pulled over at the first opportunity. All of the emergency vehicle drivers should know this, and shouldn't try to bully drivers out of their way at a red light, but instead should switch off their sirens and wait for the light to turn green, and traffic to safely move out of their way.

Priorities:
- Safety of myself and others
- Legality
- Making Progress
