Hi all.

I’m about to upgrade to a newer car (child on the way) and am looking at a 3 series. I’ve found a 24k 320D 2015 plate that looks almost new, full BMW service history etc. Is there anything I should be looking for? I assume they solved as much as possible the timing chain issues.

Is there anything else that is common on these cars?

Thanks.

It was registered in May 2015 so the very last of the N47 engines.

It may have a comprehensive service history in that all the services have been logged, but how often has it been serviced so far? It's 3 years old, so ideally at least 3 services.

Although the N47 engine has got a reputation for being unreliable, I suspect there are far more engines out there that have proven reliable over those that have encountered failures.

It's low mileage, so that wouldnt put me off because you can start to do more frequent oil changes (let's say, every 10,000 miles), and BMW presumably will provide it with a years warranty anyway.
